Many of our new golf ideas for Chasing Par come during long walks between shots that have gone in a different direction from the rest of the group. Some may have lighting strike while sitting on the throne for a number 2, but for our team, the lightning seems to strike when on route to a search. A needle in a haystack, or worse, a ball that IS playable in a difficult spot.

A spot that truly has you doing the math, “could I even get to a better position than taking the penalty and a drop if this ball was lost?”

During this moment of ethical golf thoughts, the phrase that usually settles the argument is from Happy Gilmore, “Play it as it lies.” Even with an alligator in play.

How much time would I save if that was just written on my ball? It wouldn’t make much sense on the tee box, but it would be a story to tell. A mantra to play by, encouraging better shots. Better course management. A movement in my game to chase par, break 90, break 80 – whatever your goal is.

That is how Chasing Par’s Play It As It Lies started, then crafted into a graphic that’s t-shirt worthy, sticker worthy, and, Vice Golf Ball worthy.

That’s right, we got a custom batch of Vice Golf Balls with the play-it logo and have to give a big shout-out to Vice Golf, for making some damn good balls.

Here’s what we ask. If you need some customized balls, or just some affordable golf balls, head over to Vice. We get a small referral and are happy to be open about that.

Now, if you’re playing in Vancouver, Whistler, or in the Okanagan, there have been some of these balls lost already. If you see one, take a photo, tag us on Instagram and we’ll send you a Play It As It Lies sticker.

Keep playing, keep chasing par.

We’d love to hear from you about your rounds! The directory now includes golf courses in Canada and the USA, so please find the course and leave a review so others know what to expect when they are out there.
