Located 15 minutes away from Córdoba airport, El Terron Golf Club is Tom Weiskopf’s first design in Latin America. Distributed inside de country club, it is a world-class golf project with special attention to detail and with a wide variety of exclusive services for golfers. Let’s find out more about it!
With an imposing design, the clubhouse of El Terrón Golf Club consists of two sectors: the living room where the main restaurant is located, and on the other hand, the exclusive sector for golfers with the Pro Shop, the Changing Rooms and the Golfers Bar. The location, warmth, decoration and service make it a truly unique and luxuriuous place.
The Golfers Bar is the exclusive meeting area for players, from where it is possible to contemplate an imposing panoramic view of the 18th hole and the best sunsets of the hills of Córdoba. The first class facilities, the warm attention of the staff, the exquisite snacks and the variety of cocktails and appetizers transform the Golfers Bar into the ideal setting to share and enjoy a good time after, almost certainly, atough round.
Locker rooms are a fundamental part of the experience at El Terrón Golf Club. Designed to guarantee the comfort and privacy that every golfer needs. Changing rooms are fully equipped with showers, sinks, toilets and lockers.
The Club offers a wide and equipped training sector to warm up your game: a chipping green with a green side bunker, a putting green and bunker and a 300-yard-long driving range.
As you can see in figure 2, they pay extra attention to details as golf balls are arranged in the same pyramid fashion as in the PGA Tour.

El Terrón Golf Club is a very demanding golf course the favors the intelligent player. The Course will tempt you in different holes, where you might think that you can outsmart Tom Weiskopf. Nonetheless, the truth is that ball positioning is utterly important to avoid water hazards, deep bunkers, out of bounds and other unknown dangers. It is very easy to destroy your score in one or the bad holes.
Furthermore, the course is designed to host important golf tournament so do not expect it to be friendly to new golfers, not even from the front tee.
Greens are immense and with a lot of movement, so take your time reading them and practicing their speed at the putting green.

Converting Córdoba’s dry soil into a golf course requires, time, patience, and a lot of work. Fortunately, the owner of this magnificent project understand this variable and have a clear vision of the golf course they want to build. Opened only 3 years ago, the greens and fairways are in remarkable conditions. Green side and fairway bunkers have a solid amount of sand are neatly arranged. The natural sloping of the course and the state-of-the-art draining system makes water flow instantly into the artificial ponds of the golf course. On the other hand, as you get away from the fairway you might find some spots with less grass. But the truth is that you should not be in there in the first place!
It is amazing the difference hitting same balls before teeing up makes. By the time I hit my first tee shot I was able to adjust some errors in my swing and gain confidence to try my best in the round. In the front nine I hit every green in regulation, three putted in 6 and two putted for birdie at 9. In the back, my putter woke up and birdied every chance I got.
My best shot of the day was second shot at 13, a long and uphill hole with an almost blind green. A perfect drive left me with less than 150 yards to the flag, but the wind was blowing so against that I had to hit a firm 7 iron. The clapping of a rule official that was next to the green let me know that the shot had been very good: a tap in birdie.
My favorite hole is the 8th., a 330-yard par 4 very showy for having a spectacular centennial carob tree in the center of the fairway and a large cross bunker with “church pews” like the in Oakmont Country Club, where Angel Cabrera won the US Open back in 2007. Fortunately, the wind was helping, and I was able to fly them. I hate “church pews”!
